Laurel Ridge Dairy

Laurel Ridge Farms was founded in 1975 in Dover Plains, New York by Bruce and Joanne Held. They moved to Columbia in 1992. The Held Family milks 160 dairy cows, grows several crops, and raises cattle, pigs, and sheep for meat. Many family members work on the farm.

Ridgeview Dairy

Ridgeview Dairy is owned and operated by Tim Baker and his son, Sam. Tim entered the dairy business in 1981 at his father’s dairy. Tim moved to the current location, which is now called Ridgeview Dairy, in 1993. The Bakers now milk somewhere between 120-140 cows, raise beef cattle, and feed crops.

Compton Dairy

Compton Dairy is owned and operated by Tony, Pam and Benjamin Compton. Tony grew up on a small 30 cow dairy; he was the only one of nine kids that stayed on the farm. Tony and Pam got married in 1987 and became partners with his parents in 1990. Benjamin was born that same year. They started increasing the herd little by little, eventually purchasing the dairy from his parents and starting to expand.

In 2008, they built a 250 cow freestall barn and began milking in a larger parlor. In 2015, Tony and Benjamin decided it was time to change the way of milking. Compton Dairy became the first dairy in South Central Kentucky to start robotic milking.

The Compton Dairy takes great pride in producing high quality milk that is trucked to Prairie Farms in Somerset, Ky.
