About the Program

Want to learn more about Kentucky farmers and the food they grow? This virtual field trip series and curriculum collection bring the farms and farmers to your classrooms, learning centers, and homes.

We developed these video field trips around Kentucky Academic Standards for Career Studies in Career Exploration and Financial Literacy. Students will learn more about local food and farmers so they can make informed decisions about food choices. Students will also learn about the daily work of farmers and get a glimpse of skills needed for farming, food processing, and business management. In addition, we have developed a curriculum program that ties in additional Academic Standards for science, social studies, math and language arts. There are ten field trips in all. You may watch them here, or download the files for viewing anywhere.

Sponsors & Partners

Kentucky Farms Feed Me Virtual Field Trip Series is a program of the Kentucky Corn Growers Association. They allowed us distribution rights and the ability to create curriculum that help teachers meet their education goals. The original field trips were created in 2011.

A new series of videos were released in 2020 thanks to support from the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund, Kentucky Farm Bureau/KFB Studios, and our Kentucky Agriculture and Environment in the Classroom members.

The Field Trips

New Activity - Create a Kentucky Farm

Students will use what they learned from watching the virtual field trips to create their dream farm on 100 acres. They may use the artistic stamps available to fill their grid, draw their own, or use a mixture of the two. There is also a writing activity on the back where students must explain how their farm will help their community and become a successful business.
