NEW - Ready, Set, Grow - School Garden Planning Guide and Curriculum
Grade Level - K-12
Thanks to a grant from the USDA/Ky Department of Agriculture and support from Kentucky Farm Bureau, we are proud to present teachers with this comprehensive school garden planning guide and curriculum.
Many of the lessons included are from nationally-recognized Kentucky teacher Darleen Horton, who regularly presents at the Kentucky Farm Bureau Regional Teacher Workshops.
This curriculum has a dedicated website, but you don't need a school garden to utilize the lessons. If you would like to choose a different resource, all the information and lessons can be found online.
NEW - The Water Cycle Game
Grade Level - 4-8
Students will learn about the cycle of water—the important processes of accumulation, evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, and what causes water to move throughout the earth and its atmosphere. Based on a game from the University of Alaska Geophysical Institute, this activity models the path water takes through Earth: from soil to rivers and lakes to clouds to the ocean and so on.
This activity includes the lesson, student worksheet, station cards, vocabulary, and 9 dice (1 for each station).
NEW - Biofuels Curriculum (Ethanol)
Growth Energy, in partnership with the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), has developed a one-of-a-kind biofuels curriculum aimed at educating high school students to the world of biofuels. The curriculum is the first industry-supported biofuels curriculum that provides students a guided in-classroom experience and will offer ag educators the tools needed to provide students with an array of technical skills and historical knowledge in biofuels. Hard copies are sponsored by the Kentucky Corn Growers. You may request a digital copy from Growth Energy.
Living Necklace Seed Germination Kit
Grade Level - K-8
Students will learn what is needed for a seed to germinate and a plant to thrive in this ready-to-use activity. They will also witness the germination process in a mini-greenhouse that they will build and wear.
We will replenish necklace supplies for 100 students. This will not include the laminated instructions that you received with your first kit.
Sponsored by the Kentucky Soybean Board.
Make a Show Pig - Pre-printed Shapes
The Make a Show Pig activity is included in the Kentucky Farms Feed Me Virtual Field Trip Program. This is a fun activity that allows younger students test their cutting skills, learn shapes, and showcase their creativity. This is a fun activity for any age, however. These pre-printed shapes (in packages of 25) save you printing and paper expenses. Sponsored by the Kentucky Pork Producers Association.
If you would prefer a printable template that allows students to color their own, download it here.
