Kentucky Agriculture Poster and Essay Contest
Students in grades K-12 can compete in this annual contest to celebrate agriculture in Kentucky. The contest is made possible through a partnership with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and Kentucky Agriculture and Environment in the Classroom. A winner will be named in each category and grade, and winners will receive a $100 prize.
The 2024 Theme is "Agriculture for a Better Kentucky"

How does Agriculture make Kentucky better? You could choose to write or show any of the following:
Agriculture provides food and resources. The Kentucky Farms Feed Me Virtual Field Trip Series (Primary) and Kentucky Food and Farm Files (Intermediate+) are great places for research.
Agriculture provides income and jobs for Kentuckians. Farmers earn money when they sell their agricultural products. When they reinvest in their farms, they create jobs for more people. The businesses that use Kentucky’s agricultural products to make new goods also create jobs. What is an example of this in your community?
Successful and sustainable agriculture requires that our farmers take care of their natural resources. How could their practices make a better Kentucky? See these links for more information:

Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles announced the winners of the KDA Poster and Essay Contest at an awards ceremony last week at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Winners of the 2020 and 2021 contest were in attendance.
Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles announced the winners of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s annual Poster and Essay Contest during an awards ceremony last week at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The theme of the contest, “Kentucky Agriculture Never Stops,” honored farm families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Commissioner Ryan Quarles invites Kentucky students all across the Commonwealth to create and submit original works of art to show the importance of agriculture to the Commonwealth’s way of life and our future. Students are encouraged to submit either a poster, essay, or digital image based on the contest theme. The theme for 2021 is “Kentucky Agriculture Never Stops”.
We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2020 Kentucky Agriculture Poster and Essay Contest. Each will receive a $100 award from KyAEC.
The theme for the contest was “Kentucky Farms: Growing Solutions for a Growing World.” Each winner received a $100 check from Kentucky Agriculture and Environment in the Classroom (KyAEC), a meal featuring foods from Kentucky Proud producers, and tickets to the Lexington Legends baseball game against the Greenville (South Carolina) Drive.
