Kentucky Agriculture 2021 Poster and Essay Contest Announced

Commissioner Ryan Quarles invites Kentucky students all across the Commonwealth to create and submit original works of art to show the importance of agriculture to the Commonwealth’s way of life and our future. Students are encouraged to submit either a poster, essay, or digital image based on the contest theme. The theme for 2021 is “Kentucky Agriculture Never Stops”.

Beeler Joins the TeachKyAg Team as EngAGe Program Spokesperson

Kentucky Agriculture and Environment in the Classroom (TeachKyAg) is pleased to announce the addition of Warren Beeler as its official EngAGe Kentucky Program Speaker and Outreach Director. This role will allow Beeler, affectionately known as Mr. Kentucky Agriculture, to continue speaking to student, civic and leadership groups about farming issues and the importance of agricultural literacy.

Poster and Essay Contest Winners Honored

The theme for the contest was “Kentucky Farms: Growing Solutions for a Growing World.” Each winner received a $100 check from Kentucky Agriculture and Environment in the Classroom (KyAEC), a meal featuring foods from Kentucky Proud producers, and tickets to the Lexington Legends baseball game against the Greenville (South Carolina) Drive.

Teachers Evaluate Sponsor a Classroom Resources and Ask for More

To date, 223 Teach Ky Ag resource kits have been distributed to teachers and farm educators across the commonwealth, and at least 30 more teaching kits have been reserved. The goal of this program is to allow local businesses, organizations and individuals to support agricultural literacy in their communities by providing standards-aligned resources with a connection to food and fiber production.
